The leash goes tight like a live wire. Then the squirrel is gone —
and there's a pause. Chest heaving. Nose twitching. Ears pivoting.

Everything you were ever taught says to fight the first part and fill the second: correct the lunge, then march into another round of drills. Long obedience marathons. Endless sit-stays. But that hollow after the storm is where training actually lives — and you've been trained to walk straight through it. Your effort was never the problem. The tempo was.

Dogs don't learn in long streams. They learn in phrases — and this is where you learn the phrasing.

Is This You?

This class asks something different of you than obedience training does — and that's exactly the point.

It's written for you if…

  • Your dog is bright and willing, but focus falls apart the moment the world gets loud
  • Long training sessions leave you both frustrated, panting, and further apart than when you started
  • You want the why underneath the method — neuroscience and instinct, not just a list of cues
  • You'd rather train in minutes a day than schedule an hour you'll never protect
  • The idea of getting fitter alongside your dog sounds like a feature, not a chore

It's probably not for you if…

  • You want a single command that fixes the behavior by Friday
  • You're looking for a correction-first, tool-based system
  • You'd rather your dog simply comply than genuinely engage
  • You aren't interested in your own body and breath being part of the training

The Four Parts

The class moves from story to science to step-by-step drills — so by the time you finish, you won't just understand K9 H.I.I.T. You'll live it.

Part One · The Spark

Why K9 H.I.I.T. Works

The first burst, and the biology beneath it

Short intervals ignite dopamine and lock in attention; pauses let the brain replay and store what just happened. The wolf-hunt rhythm your dog still carries — and your first drill, the 30-Second Focus Sprint.

Part Two · The Core

Building Emotional Resilience

Focus, rest, and shared breath

The cornerstone of the whole method: Active Rest, the lower gear of sniffing and circling, and Inactive Rest — K9 Bioenergy Balancing, the collapse into calm where trust is restored.

Part Three · The Unfolding

Your Personalized Plan

Built around your dog, not a template

Design sessions around your dog's sensory profile — scent-driven, sound-driven, or visual. Track subtle gains. And meet resistance the way this method does: as feedback, never failure.

Part Four · The Transformation

When Training Becomes Flow

Synchrony, even in chaos

The busy park at full volume — and the two of you moving through it in step. Beyond technique into effortless action: the invisible recall, the silent session, the partnership that stops feeling like training.

What You'll Learn Inside

Storytelling, neuroscience, and practical exercises — science and soul in the same session.

I

The Science of Sensory Learning

How your dog's sensory preferences shape what they absorb — and how to design sessions around the way your dog takes in the world.

II

Creating Emotional Resilience

Trust and empathy built through sensory-rich experience and co-regulation — shared breath, shared rhythm, two nervous systems finding one tempo.

III

Short Bursts, Big Impact

High-intensity intervals that deliver maximum learning without overwhelm. Thirty seconds of fire beats ten minutes of nagging — and the science explains why.

IV

Personalized Training Plans

Sessions tailored to your dog's unique needs, whether they're scent, touch, or sound driven — with adaptations for puppies, reactive dogs, seniors, and high-drive athletes.

V

The Role of Rest

Why recovery is as vital as the work itself: how pauses consolidate learning into lasting memory, and how calm becomes something your dog can find on their own.

The Cornerstone

The Half of Training Almost Everyone Skips

Most methods measure the work. This one measures the rest — because the pause isn't the absence of training. It's where the lesson gets written down. Norepinephrine drops, the memory consolidates, the body resets, and trust is restored before the next round begins.

You'll learn both kinds and when each belongs: Active Rest, the low gear of sniffing, circling, and shaking off — and Inactive Rest, K9 Bioenergy Balancing, the full collapse into parasympathetic calm.

Without rest, training is noise. With rest, training becomes memory.

Questions Before You Begin

Does my dog need to be athletic for this?

No. "High intensity" describes the focus of the interval, not the athleticism of the dog. The method adapts for puppies, reactive dogs, seniors, and high-drive athletes alike — a burst can be thirty seconds of scent games just as easily as a sprint.

Do I need to be fit myself?

Not at all. The guardian add-ons are optional and scalable — a single squat during a pause counts. They're offered because the rhythm works better when you're in it rather than watching it, and because most people are surprised to find they enjoy that part most.

How much time does this actually take?

Minutes a day. A complete session can be three to five cycles of thirty seconds of engagement and a few minutes of pause. That's the entire premise: short and phrased beats long and relentless, for your dog's brain and your calendar both.

How is this different from obedience training?

Obedience asks your dog to comply. This asks your dog to engage — using the burst-and-pause rhythm their nervous system already runs on. You're not overriding instinct with commands. You're training with the current instead of against it.

You're One Burst from a Different Walk

Not another method layered on top of the ones that didn't hold. A rhythm your dog has been keeping since long before you met — and an invitation to finally join it.
